to 1960 Immigration & Naturalization Records for
District Court of the Choctaw Nation South McAlester, Indian Territory
And
District Court of Pittsburg County McAlester Oklahoma

Naturalization Records were first recorded in Choctaw Nation, Indian
Territory, about 1889. In Pre-Statehood cases, the initial record was
referred to as "Oath of Allegiance". while after 1907 the document
was entitled "Declaration of Intention". Then there was a two
+ year waiting period until they could file the "Petition of Naturalization".
